Clogged pores, rough texture and an uneven tone trouble many women well past thirty. Yet harsh peeling dries the skin out and triggers even more sebum production. The answer is gentle, regular maintenance. Cosmetics cannot cure acne, but they can significantly reduce blemishes and refine skin texture.

When choosing an acid toner, the percentage on the label is not what matters. The result is determined by the pH and the free acid value (FAV). Our partially neutralised formula works as a reservoir, releasing the active ingredients gradually. This ensures safer penetration into the skin without unwanted redness.

How the active ingredients work

The formula combines three types of acid with an active extract for comprehensive skin renewal. Lactic acid (AHA) acts as a humectant. It binds moisture at the surface of the stratum corneum and stimulates ceramide production. Salicylic acid (BHA) is lipophilic. It travels straight into the pores, where its comedolytic action dissolves plugs of oxidised sebum, and it also works as an anti-inflammatory. According to the Kornhauser (2009) study for the FDA, this ingredient does not increase the skin's phototoxicity.

Gluconolactone (PHA) has a larger molecule than AHA acids. It absorbs more slowly and does not irritate nerve endings. The Berardesca (1997) study demonstrated that it does not increase transepidermal water loss. On the contrary, it protects the skin barrier from damage by surfactants. The formula is completed by Reforcyl-AION, an oil pumpkin extract. The ingredient manufacturer's clinical tests confirm a 10% stronger barrier, a 15% increase in hydration and an 8% improvement in firmness. It also visibly reduces pore size and redness.

Who the toner is for

The toner suits women with combination or oily skin who struggle with occasional blemishes and a rough surface. Thanks to gentle gluconolactone, it is also suitable for sensitive skin, including skin prone to rosacea or atopic flare-ups. It exfoliates gently without disrupting the barrier.

How to use it

The order of your skincare steps matters more for the result than the brand on the bottle. The toner has its fixed place right after make-up removal and cleansing, before applying serums and creams. Use it every day with a cotton pad, or gently pat it in with your fingertips. It serves as gentle daily maintenance. If you already use our Pore-Cleansing Exfoliating Gel with AHA for more intensive evening care, the toner works as its natural complement. If you don't have the gel, simply use the toner on its own.

Please note: AHA acids increase the skin's sensitivity to UV light. Although BHA does not have this effect, daytime SPF protection is essential whenever you use the toner.
